I appologize for removing this page. By popular demand it is back. Baby Girl is right, here are a lot of cool pictures on this page as well as a little "finding mary" history lesson. 2005 was the busiest year for "finding mary" so far. But it was also a year that brought more changes than the previous years combined. Let me bring you up to speed.
After celebrating our 100th "finding mary" show in December of 2004 (at TOTH'S PLACE), we jumped right into 2005 with a bang by doing our first back to back Friday and Saturday nights at THE WILLOWICK RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE in the begining of January. We appeared on back to back nights at THE WILLOWICK a number of times throughout 2005. In fact TOTH'S PLACE, THE WILLOWICK and SPUDDY'S were the three establishments that kept us the busiest last year.
March was another anniversery for us as we celebrated our first full year as a three piece band. We also mourned the loss of Tinker Campbell, one of The Cowboy's old bowling buddy's from the Mar-Val Lanes days. Tinker was a big fan of our band and pushed to get us booked at SCORE'S and it was our honor to help his loved ones at a benefit on his behalf. In April we added THE CAPTAIN'S CLUB to our growing list of venues. Although it's a difficult room to set up in, we had a great time every time we appeared there. In fact, Butch and I did our acoustic duo one Thursady night there and had a fabulous time. May brought our first of many appearances at THE LIGHTHOUSE GRILL. We were even selected to host the "Scot Savol (American Idol) Appreciation night" at THE LIGHTHOUSE. We had a super time and even got Scot to come up and sing with us.
In June, among our regular bookings, The Cowboy made a solo appearence at PAINESVILLE SPEEDWAY one Saturday night. He traded his guitar and mike for a fire suit and a figure-eight buggy. I thank my best friend Jeff Marvin for the oppurtunity, but am not looking forward to doing that again. Although I won the "Helmet Dash", I made some new
"friends" in the feature and I'm sure they share my sentiments about my return. Keep an eye on that 06 machine with www.findingmary.net on the sides next year. Unlike me, Red does know how to drive.
As the year marched on things started to get tense among the three of us. And as happens from time to time with bands, by the end of July we decided to part ways. So after two + years with Bob Penko on Bass and almost Four years with Butch "the Big Machine" Capaldi on drums we went our seperate ways. I kept the name "finding mary" and quickly found replacements to fulfill jobs I still had on the books for the rest of the year. I found Jimmy Tackett to paly drums who brought in Ted Hopson on bass. In the middle of August I took my new trio into TOTH'S PLACE to great reviews. Jimmy played a handful of jobs with us, including our return to KATIE'S PUB, but was obligated to another band. So another change had to be made and Duane Cole sat in the drum chair for a couple jobs. By October I offered Butch his old job back and he accepted. Then it was back to TOTH'S with the third different line up in as many months. We finished out 2005 by hitting seven different clubs (including two new ones; The Offshore and Frank and Tony's in Eastlake) in November and back to back nights for the KATIE'S PUB Christmas party weekend in December. Thank you everyone who made 2005 a true success for us.
Oh, and by the way, if you do find mary tell we miss her.
